The Fine-Toothed Comb

I'VE BEEN VERY BUSY. A few days ago, my publisher/editor Deb emailed me a copy of the galley for my book. This means I'm reading a digital copy of the book as it will look when it's published. I'm going over it with a fine tooth comb to catch anything we might have missed during the previous edits and to make sure it's formatted correctly. This means we're getting very close to publication. I'm really enjoying this process, although I will admit that doubts about my ability hover like a pesky fly. What will everyone think? What if...

I"m not letting myself get too worked up with worry. I'll do my best and let the chips fall where they may.

On Tuesday, April 30th, I'll be at Powell's Bookstore in Portland, Oregon with editors Cami Ostman and Susan Tive to discuss Beyond Belief. (See sidebar.) This is my first ever book event and I'm totally stoked and honored (and terrified) to have this opportunity. If you're in the area, I would love the chance to meet you.

Soon, things will calm down and I'll get back to regular blog reading. I hope all of you are doing well.

  1. Ooooooh, how exciting!! I'll have to see if I can get a sitter. And a companion. I'm weird about entering the world alone. :)

  10. Grace, I know all too well the anxiety you feel when you actually realize for certain the personal details of your life are going public soon. It's frightening, exhilarating, and scary, wondering what others will think.

Just accept, it really doesn't matter that much what others think, it's your life and you had your reasons for writing about it. Enjoy the roller coaster ride. There is nothing like it to compare it too. It's uniquely yours and it's a wonderful accomplishment!
