I've never been interested in vampire stuff. I saw the author of the books on TV, and it seemed like she was in shock that she has been so successful.

I LOVE this post, both for the gorgeous flowers and for the snark on Twilight, which just makes me roll my eyes. Cheesy movie (I lasted 5 minutes watching the first one on the Movie Network) and appallingly poor writing (flipped through one book a year or so back wondering what the fuss was about.) Thankfully, I have no young children that subject me to this stuff or the rest of the tweenie-teenie crazes. Even when my son was 'that age'...he was never like that. Love Roger Ebert and his reviews always seem to be more than fair.

Lots of comments, I took the weekend off from blogging and now I have a lot to catch up on. That rose is just stunning. I missed having Stargazers in the garden this year...voles.
As for your movie...both my girls went to see it....and liked it. I couldn't be bothered. We go to the movies once a year ( I know!) on New Year's Day....a tradition of about 10 years or so. My husband doesn't like going to movies, doesn't think there are any that are very good. Any recommendations for this year???

Hi Grace - Never been tempted to read or watch that drivel. Maybe as a teen I would have been, who knows - that vampire guy is kinda cute. Oh, your summer favs! Stargazer lilies are my absolute number one favorite bulb - why don't I have any in this garden? Their scent - divine! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving. PS Thanks for weighing in on the mystery grass. I have a feeling it is pampas, since I have one in the backyard and it could have floated a seed over the house and down to the street, I suppose.

I must confess that I rented the first Twilight movie, and I plan to rent the second. They are kind of silly, really, but there is something about it that sucks me in. I have no idea why I am admitting to this. ;)
Your gardens are absolutely beautiful... I love the clematis 'Niobe'and viorna. I tend to keep my garden full of purples, yellow, orange and red. So, it's nice to unleash my pink side when I visit. :)

I love the lily with the schiza-whatever grass. I have one of those guys - I believe it is 'the blues". It was a little floppier than I hoped but I loved how you've paired it with the lily. I may consider moving it back into a more prominant spot.

I did see the first twilight b/c I have an 11-year old (fine, it's because I'm a loser and like teenybopper stuff). I love the "long pauses interrupt longer ones". THe first movie was like that too! But really, it you just think back to when you were a teenager, really lusted after someone, and all that angst and emotion - you can kind of enjoy.

Grace, I too had to laugh. I will not see the second installment of the Twilight trilogy unless it is urged upon my by my 16 and 20 year old daughters. I watched the first one with them and *thought* I did not like it--I made fun of it and teased my girls throughout. Then I was processing magazines at the Library where I work and a People Magazine came through with Robert Pattinson on the cover and my heart skipped a beat. Whoa!

I guess it's for teenage girls. And for "mature" women who are teens at heart. :)
